Hi Awesome BDW volunteers,
My heart is full of gratitude this morning for your dedication and love for the precious homeless pets we work with. Some are deemed unadoptable, especially the old ones. Wheeler, a 12-year old Yellow Lab, would disagree with you, and so would his adopter. Wheeler had everything against him, he was old and sick, but we knew he really was "golden" and worth our help. He is now well and home in Boise with a lady who absolutely adores him.
Jan and Ron, thank you so much for taking the road trip to take this sweet boy home.
Welcome home, Wheeler!
In Memory of our friend BROWNIE
10/14/2008 – 6/4/2017
We were made aware of Brownie needing a home and made the inquiry to Black Dog Walk organization. We knew right away that Brownie would fit in our family. We adopted this sweet dog to join our 11-year old black Lab, Pongo. Brownie and Pongo became immediate buddies. The first night here we had 2 “beds” set up for them to sleep. Pongo was in his and Brownie went to his. A short time later I went to check on them and they had switched beds! “That’s ok you guys, it’s all up to you.” A little later I again checked on them and both were on the same bed! Definitely Buddies!! They played together in the back yard. Brownie, in some type of dog understanding, taught Pongo to chase and fetch the famous tennis balls that he loved. They were taken on some good walks together out on the rail trail in Willard. These two became inseparable. Both wanting to get through the door at the same time and back in at the same time! What a pleasure to have Brownie in our lives. Brownie was an easy going, well behaved and sweet dog that we fell in love with. He only ate croissants one time when we weren’t looking. I am sure he shared them with PongoJ
Brownie did have a fatty cell removed from his side. He was given excellent care and was recovering as expected. Again, Pongo didn’t leave his side. A true friendship had developed in short amount of time.
We would like to thank Black Dog walking for letting us adopt Brownie. We were blessed to have him in our lives for the short time we did. A thank you also to Animal ER for the wonderful care provided to Brownie. North Ogden Animal Hospital has donated to the Arbor Foundation to have a tree planted in Brownie’s name in the Tahoe National Forest. We thank everyone for the love and care that have been shown to us.
Brownie had many caring friends along the way of his life. Many memories had been made. Each one unique for each one of us that had the sweet dog named Brownie enter our lives. Rest Easy Brownie. You were very much loved.
We have include a special picture of Brownie and our dog to share.
Great Day...Three dogs and one cat found their forever homes, and the others got lots of attention and love.
Jake thinks he is a lap dog, and it looks like he is right.
Cute Pebba was so happy to find her forever home.
Limerick is a hoot, and can almost sit long enough for a treat.
Blaze is a very mellow senior.
Bella enjoyed all the love an attention she received.
Pebba, Bubble Gum, and Bear found their forever homes..
Black Dog Walk is thrilled that Apollo & Sam were adopted together. They are a bonded pair which can make finding a home together more difficult so we are all so excited that they are able to stay together forever. Welcome Home Apollo & Sam!
We had a great day at Petco. The sun was shining and we had a great pack of pets and volunteers. Four of the six dogs from the shelter were adopted and one of the five cats was adopted.
-Wiley had a play date with Bandit, our volunteers Chris and Hazel's 5-month old Rottie puppy. He did really well, and enjoyed the play time.
-Bella joined us again and enjoyed all the "ooo's and awe's" of admirers.
-Tuff Toquito enjoyed snuggling with Carol and lots of admirers. He was a little shy of noisy children, but will make a great companion dog because he is a snuggler.
-Cute Molly made her way around to meet everyone, trying to find her forever family. We know the perfect one is going to find her soon.
-Maggie enjoyed lots of loves from everyone. Adopters were hesitant to adopt either Molly or Maggie because they are seniors. They just don't know what awesome additions to their homes they would make.
-Cute, flying ball-catching Missy was adopted before we could put her "Adopt Me" vest on.
-Cute, "Personality Plus" Clover was next to find her forever home.
-Duke's adoptive family spent lots of time with him and just couldn't leave without making him a permanent part of their family.
-Brooklyn is the "Star" of a family of all girls (except for Dad), and she will be loved forever.
-Pixel stole the hearts of her new family, and is going to be loved forever.
-We missed pictures of Clover and her new family and of our cute Molly but have included their flyer pictures.
