JUNIE B HAPPILY EVER AFTER!                                                                                                          01/20/18

I just wanted to send an update on Junie B. She is a wonderful dog and such a joy. She is so so good with everyone but particularly our toddler and cats. She is so gentle and friendly. Each night after my daughter is in bed Junie is waiting for me to take our evening walk and it’s lovely. She has perfect leash manners and is such a calming presence. She is my dog through and through-she obeys commands from me at the drop of a hat but doesn’t respond much to my husband ha ha. Thank you so much for saving her for us. Micha

Our awesome volunteer, Sandy, found the love of her life in a tiny Brussels Griffon that BDW took in. Button was fostered by Jan and Ron and then Mike and Darlene. She is now known as Millie and in her forever home with Sandy. Congratulations Sandy.  Welcome home Millie - Enjoy your new life!

UPDATE:
Night was adopted by an awesome family and is living a happy life.

Night Needs Your Help . . .Contact Black Dog Walk if You Can Help This Sweet Lab

Picture
Night’s owner’s  mother has been diagnosed with cancer and the family has been cautioned not to take any risks that could bring a contaminant near her.  Both of the children in this family have autism, and Night has been the daughter’s only friend. The owner is concerned that no one will be willing to take on an older dog who is just beginning to have expensive health problems. Please take a second look at this precious Black Lab and consider giving her the loving home she needs.

Night is spayed, and 8 or 9 years old.  She was adopted in 2007 from the Ogden Animal Shelter.  She is a small black lab mix with a white blaze on her chest.  She has torn a ligament in her right rear leg, and she also has a broken molar on the left side of her  mouth.  Her current owner is willing to pay $800 toward the surgery. Night’s personality is like a teenager’s.  She can be very sweet and loving, but she can be needy and moody.  She is housetrained, but if she feels like she is being slighted, she has a favorite spot in the basement that she will grace.  Night has been the owner’s daughter’s constant companion for six years, and usually sleeps in her bed, although she’s a noisy sleeper.  She often dreams about running and makes noises in her sleep.

Night hates to be confined in her crate, maybe this goes back to her time at the animal shelter.  She is crated during the day while the family is away and when they get home she barks and whines until someone lets her out.  Night doesn’t go into her kennel without being led.

She will sit, roll over, and jump up for a treat.  Unless someone rings the doorbell, she is quiet and fairly sedate.  When she was younger, she was quite an escape artist.  The owner had to abandon the chain link kennel because she was ruining her teeth bending the links to get out of it every day.  The owner has a fenced back yard, but she can jump over the 3-foot section of the fence.  The owner gives the dogs treats as soon as they come back inside, so Night doesn’t escape as often now.  When she does, she will spend 15 minutes wandering the neighborhood and then be back at the door.
The owner has cabin in the Uintas where they spend a few weeks every summer.  Night can swim, and she loves going in the Weber River to cool off.  She will also find any kind of dead animal to gnaw on.  Last year she found a deer femur, and every time the family threw it away she managed to find it again.
Night LOVES squeaky toys.  She will rip a toy apart to find the squeaker as though it were a treasure hunt, then parade around the house proudly with her prize.  Her two favorite toys are a rubber duck and chicken that squeak.

Night lived with another lab, who has been adopted.  She is great with kids.  The owner has several young nieces and nephews who have poked, prodded, pulled tails, and tried to ride the dogs.  Both of them just sit there and don’t as much as growl.  She has been boarded, and there hasn’t been any reports of issues with other dogs.  She is very social.  At the dog park, she will do the usual sniffing and posturing, but has never nipped another dog.

February 24, 2014: Night was adopted by an awesome Petco associate and is doing well. We wish you the best, Night!
